Mr. and Mrs...

"Heads, we get married. Tails, we break up? How's that?" he chuckled nervously, looking down at the coin in his hand.

"Um, sure, whatever, doofus," I laughed at my boyfriend.

I admit that I'd been pushing Harry every once in a while to take the next step in our relationship, but he WAS just joking, right?  Why is is that as women we are always ready to take the next step, to take that leap of faith and commit? Men on the other hand seem of two types. Those that are hopeless romantics and want to marry a woman the first second they lay eyes on them. These men scare me by the way. They are the smotherers and I'd never been able to stay with them for too long - always needing my space within a month's time. They left me feeling like I couldn't breath.

Then there are the other type of guys. I think they make up 90% of the male population. They don't listen when you talk, they never seem to call you first and forget about answering texts. I guess that why they are guys and not women, right? But still... it is enough to drive me crazy. Why isn't there a happy medium?

I looked over at Harry, his brown eyes crinkled at the edges and looking at me like a soulful child. I could never turn down those eyes. These are the eyes I fell in love last year in Wyoming. Harry and I were both participants in an week long hike through Grand Teton National Park. It was one of those group hiking vacations where you only eat minimal amounts of food —mostly vegetarian and hike daily, sometimes even doing yoga in the morning. The point of the vacation was to detoxify you from the city life both spiritually and physically. Harry and I bonded almost instantly as we were both on the younger end of the age group of the participants but also because we both discovered that our jobs were stressing us out and we even worked in the same field — finance.

The first night as we talked around the campfire, our eyes kept connecting. Harry would tilt his head down with a slight smile, as if to say, "yes, I know you find me attractive." His hair would dip into his eyes a bit as he'd look back up and bite his lip. I was a goner that first night. About the third night into our hike, I was in my tent with my headlamp on, reading the map for the next days' hike, when I heard footsteps outside my tent. I froze and reached for my mace that I kept in my backpack. The tent rustled as I heard a make shift "Knock, Knock. Hey you in there gorgeous?"

Yep. That was how me met. It was steamy, sexy, humorous, well, downright romantic to tell you the truth. I fell hard for Harry and he for me.

Now, months later, as we stood outside the tiny chapel in Las Vegas, me in my $2500 wedding gown and Harry looking like a giant penguin in his tux and tophat, I looked deep into those big eyes that sent shivers down my spine and just laughed.

"Sure baby, sure." I took his hand and together we walked into the chapel and got hitched, Vegas-style.
